Broughton hosts fire safety day on Thursday 24 November

North Wales Fire and Rescue will be visiting Broughton Shopping Park during Road Safety Week to encourage shoppers to take up the offer of a free child car seat safety check and educate the public about the dangers of fire.

The Community Fire Safety Bus and the Subaru will be in the car park between 10am and 3pm on Thursday November 24.

Children will also have the opportunity to play on the interactive games on the educational bus whilst parents can have their seats checked to ensure that they are fixed correctly.

As well as the emphasis on road safety member of the public will be able to register for a free home fire safety check, where a member of the Service will visit their property at a convenient time and carry out a fire safety check with the occupier and install smoke alarms for free where necessary.

Paul Scott, Community Safety Team Manager, said: "This is a great opportunity for us to promote road safety during the National Road Safety Week and at the same time promote fire safety. Shoppers can visit the bus and get safety advice whilst out shopping for the day and it's all for free.

"If you are not able to go to Broughton Shopping Park on Thursday  but would like to register for a home fire safety check call our free 24 hotline on 0800 169 1234, e-mail cfs@nwales-fireservice.org.uk or text 88365, ensuring you prefix your message with the word HFSC."
