CCTV exchange starts between major shopping locations

Known criminals or trouble-makers will soon find that life has become more difficult for them in two of the region’s largest shopping destinations.

Thanks to a joint criminal intelligence programme agreed between Broughton Shopping Park and Chester Action Against Business Crime, CCTV images of these individuals will be exchanged, so that they can be apprehended or moved on before any offence is committed. The Exchange, which will benefit Broughton Shopping Park and Chester city centre, has the full support of the respective police forces.

Park Manager, Colin Gilligan, who is delighted to be facilitating this intelligence exchange, explains: “ Because of our proximity, we are both targeted by the same group of criminals and trouble makers, and it therefore makes eminent sense to share information.

“In striving to provide the safest environment for our visitors and staff, we need to be immediately aware of any potential criminal or anti-social activity to avert any theft, damage or nuisance. A good example might be ‘boy-racers’ racing stolen cars on or near the Park. I want all these people to recognise that Broughton Shopping Park is not an easy touch, and that we have a zero tolerance to this kind of behaviour.”
